A Study of Monet’s
Woman with Parasol
2000, acrylic on canvas, 9 x 12 inches
I have revisited on numerous occasions the valuable exercise of imitating the famous painters. I was drawn to this particular Monet because of the beautiful colors and interesting composition. The vibrant color of the parasol—lime green—against a quite contrasting steel blue sky is very interesting to me. I also love the franticness of the strokes that mirror the restless energy emanated in the pose, implied breeze, and willowy grass.
